Danae Consultancy is my proprietory consultancy firm that was set up in ’96, when I was employed by the Royal Netherlands Embassy to run the Netherlands Business Promotion Office. In 2001 it went into the files, to re-emerge in 2011.

If I were to sit back and enumerate the areas I have worked in over the years that I have been on the workforce, it amazes me how varied that experience level has been. From very mundane labour jobs like cleaning, warehousing, mail sorting, secretarial services to producing Indian language databases and dictionaries, teaching art and writing, doing traffic awareness, conferences, seminars and events, music shows, film festivals, etc.

Life is learning, at every step and that is what I have done and I am not done yet.
I am a reasonably fast learner and dare to take on responsibilities as well as initiate activities. I love working in a team, though I have the habit to force other team mates to take on responsibilities and share in the decision making process and build on ideas which are usually out of the box for the Indian way of approaching processes.

If a problem can be solved I will spend time on finding a solution rather than worrying about the problem.
When getting into any new sector or field it is my habit to listen to all the views available on the topic, get practical inputs, come to my own conclusions and then get into action mode.

Having worked at very basic levels and then work myself up helps to discern the blah blah from the really important information.
To be able to work with this approach it is imperative to have a widespread network to rely on and use as my sounding board. Maintaining and staying in touch with people is probably a skill inherited from my family.

From the Dutch I have learnt how to find what I am looking for, straight forwardness and efficiency.
Multitasking is second nature and therefore I am active with several activities simultaneously, finding common ground, mutually beneficial moments allows me to sometimes cover multiple aspects with minimal efforts.

The goal is to have fun and enjoy whatever it is I do. It should have positive energy and impact and of course provide a decent living for my family.
